REACh (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation or Chemicals), the new EU legislation for controlling chemical substances, came into force on 1st June 2007.

This regulation was designed to:

  • Ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment minimising significant adverse effects
  • Maintain and enhance the competiveness of the EU chemical industry

REACh states that all companies who manufacture or import substances in quantities > 1 tonne/year must eventually submit registrations to the European Chemicals Agency (deadlines depend on volumes manufactured/imported).

However all companies who use chemicals as part of their industrial activities have responsibilities to ensure the safe handling and use of these substances.

At Colloids we are fully aware of our REACh responsibilities, whether these be passing the relevant information on to both our employees and customers or ensuring that all substances we use are pre-registered and registered by the applicable deadlines.

We are also committed to helping our customers understand their REACh responsibilities with regards to materials purchased from Colloids and also other substances they may use.
